Adrien Brody Reveals Hilarious Makeup Mishap on The Brutalist: ‘That Doesn’t Come Off’!

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, actor Adrien Brody humorously recounted a makeup mishap he experienced while filming his Oscar-nominated role in The Brutalist. As Brody was required to wear heavy prosthetics to portray an aging character, he shared a particularly funny moment when a makeup artist unintentionally started to damage his real nose while trying to remove the prosthetics.

Brody explained, “They did apply a lot of — they had to do a prosthetic procedure. And it’s funny, everyone’s very busy, a movie with a lot of moving pieces. And so I had a new team of people who I’d never met, and they were removing this apparatus all over me.” He elaborated on the situation, stating, “This woman was busily working away with a solvent on my nose.”

As the makeup artist continued her work, Brody became increasingly concerned and inquired, “Are you trying to remove that?” to which she replied, “Yes.” Brody humorously responded, “That doesn’t come off!” This prompted laughter from both Fallon and the studio audience. The actress added a lighthearted note when the makeup artist apologized, responding, “This is going in my diary,” which further amused everyone present.

Directed by Brady Corbet, The Brutalist has received immense acclaim, earning ten Oscar nominations, including nods for Adrien Brody as best actor and Brady Corbet as best director. Both Brody and Corbet celebrated their wins at the recent Golden Globe awards. In his acceptance speech, Brody expressed heartfelt gratitude towards his Hungarian-American parents for their sacrifices, reflecting on the ups and downs of his long career.

“It’s been many years, it’s been decades, and I’ve had a long life and career and a lot of peaks and a lot of valleys, and it’s given me perspective,” he stated. He noted the importance of this moment, acknowledging the challenges of finding meaningful work. Brody emphasized that experiences like these are healing and rewarding not just for him, but also in recognition of the struggles faced by his family, which paved his way as an American actor.

Adrien Brody’s makeup mishap serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of filmmaking, often filled with humorous and unexpected moments that bring levity to the intense work of producing acclaimed cinema.
