Prime Video’s hit animated superhero series, Invincible, is set to return for a third season this week. At a special screening for the premiere of Season 3 in Los Angeles, cast members celebrated the occasion and engaged with fans by answering questions posed by Collider’s Aidan Kelley on the red carpet. Gillian Jacobs, who voices Samantha Wilkins, also known as Atom Eve, shared her thoughts on what viewers can expect from the new season, including an intriguing idea for a possible spin-off series.
During the event, Jacobs expressed her enthusiasm for a show centered around the Teen Team before their first appearances. She likened her concept to a coming-of-age story, humorously referencing Muppet Babies in her vision. “I was saying today that you could do the Muppet Babies for the Teen Team,” Jacobs said. “I would like to see them before Season 1 of the show starts, as they’re all figuring out how to be superheroes, and dating, and Rex Splode and all the drama. But I also love the Mauler twins, and I would love to see more of the Mauler twins.”
Gillian Jacobs rose to fame for her role in the cult hit community, which aired for six seasons. She also star in the Netflix series Love, co-starring Paul Rust, and executive produced by acclaimed filmmaker Judd Apatow. In addition, Jacobs garnered recognition for her supporting roles in popular shows like HBO’s Girls and the highly praised Hulu series The Bear.
Invincible, based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, who also penned the source material for The Walking Dead, debuted in 2021 to rave reviews. The first season achieved an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the highly anticipated second season premiered in 2023 with a perfect 100% rating. The early reviews for the third season also hold a 100% rating, with Collider’s Nate Richard comparing its narrative to Captain America: Civil War.
The third season of Invincible is set to premiere on Prime Video on February 6, and fans are eager to see the new developments. With Gillian Jacobs sharing her whimsical spin-off idea about the Teen Team, excitement continues to build in the lead-up to the premiere. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on this fascinating universe and its characters.
