Ranveer Allahbadia has made headlines for the wrong reasons recently. The YouTuber, known for his podcasts, appeared on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent, where he posed an obscene question to a contestant. His comment has sparked outrage among netizens, leading to an FIR being filed against him. The question he asked was, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or would you join in once and stop it forever?” This statement has generated significant controversy.
This incident also brings to mind a previous occurrence involving Akshay Kumar. During the promotion of the film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan last year, Ranveer was on his podcast and made a bizarre remark to Akshay, calling him the “personification of testosterone.” He stated, “Aapki aawaz se hie testosterone nikal ke aata hai. It’s like aapke do nahi aapke chaar hai, aisa kabhi kabhi lagta.” Additionally, Ranveer asked, “Kabhi kisi ko pela hai aapne?” Akshay responded firmly, asking, “Pela hai matlab kya hota hai? Do matlab hote hai pelne, pehle tu decide karle kaunsa pelna bolna hai.” Social media users praised Akshay for his sharp retort at that time.
Following the uproar around the inappropriate comment on India’s Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia issued an apology on social media. In a video he shared, he admitted, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform and obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just here for an apology.”
This incident has raised questions about the responsibilities of public figures when using their platforms, illustrating the profound impact their words can have on society. The backlash from this controversy indicates ongoing public scrutiny and the greater call for accountability in content creation.
