Get Ready for Action: Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal Are Back in Thrilling New ‘The Accountant 2’ Images!

Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal are back in exciting new images from their upcoming thriller, The Accountant 2, and it promises to deliver more bone-crunching action reminiscent of the previous film. Affleck returns as Christian Wolff, an autistic hitman with a passion for numbers, while Bernthal reprises his role as his mercenary brother, Brax. You definitely wouldn’t want to cross paths with these two.

Joining Affleck and Bernthal in the cast are Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons, with Gavin O’Connor once again stepping into the director’s chair. For a glimpse of what’s in store, the official logline reveals, “Christian Wolff is brought out of hiding by Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina after someone close to them is killed by unknown assassins. To solve the murder, Wolff must recruit the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax.”

Affleck made his first appearance as Wolff in the 2016 film, where he played a mathematics savant who has more affection for numbers than for people. Wolff operates as a forensic accountant for various shady characters while using a local chartered accountancy office as a cover for his money-laundering activities. His life takes a dramatic turn when the U.S. Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, led by J.K. Simmons’ character, Ray King, identifies him as the financial mastermind behind the criminal enterprises. In a bid to maintain his cover and appear legitimate, he accepts a job at a state-of-the-art robotics company. This is where an accounting clerk, played by Anna Kendrick, uncovers a significant accounting discrepancy amounting to millions, drawing him into a greater threat.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics—currently sitting at 52% on Rotten Tomatoes—the film garnered praise for Affleck’s performance and its portrayal of neurodiversity via Wolff’s character. The original movie became a massive hit on streaming platforms, prompting Amazon MGM Studios to support the sequel. For more updates on The Accountant 2, stay tuned to Collider. The original film is currently available to stream on Max in the U.S., and The Accountant 2 is set to hit theaters on April 25.
