Apple TV+ has officially announced a 10-episode adaptation of Cape Fear, featuring Hollywood stars Amy Adams and Javier Bardem in lead roles, as reported by Variety. This psychological thriller, based on John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel The Executioners, follows happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden, whose lives spiral into chaos when Max Cady (Bardem), a violent criminal from their past, is released from prison. Cady’s return creates a tense battle of wits and survival as he seeks revenge on the couple.
The original novel was previously adapted into the 1991 film Cape Fear, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro as Cady.
