On Thursday, February 13, celebrated Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi arrived at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, to partake in one of the largest religious gatherings in India. He expressed his gratitude, stating, “We have come here to thank god…We want to thank the government of India, especially the government of Uttar Pradesh, their administration, and every officer present here for making such good preparations. It feels very proud that today, the world’s biggest festival is being celebrated in such a beautiful way in our country,” as reported by ANI.
The Mahakumbh commenced on January 12 and will conclude on February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivratri. This isn’t Vivek Oberoi’s first visit; he previously attended the Mahakumbh with his family in 2013. This year, the event featured various notable personalities taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of devotion. Alongside Oberoi, actors like Vidyut Jamwal and Pankaj Tripathi, famous for his role in the series Mirzapur, also attended the ceremony, sharing their spiritual experiences.
Pankaj Tripathi expressed a deep sense of satisfaction after bathing in the sacred waters, stating, “Sangam main nahaane ka ichcha tha, woh poora hogaya,” reflecting the fulfillment he achieved through the ritual. He mentioned feeling moved by the holy experience, emphasizing the profound significance of the Mahakumbh for devotees seeking inner peace and reflection.
Several other celebrities, including Rajkummar Rao, Patralekhaa, and Anupam Kher, have visited the Mahakumbh. The event also attracted international figures like Chris Martin of Coldplay and his girlfriend Dakota Johnson, who attended right after their concert in Ahmedabad. The presence of such diverse celebrities illustrates the Mahakumbh’s far-reaching appeal, showcasing its essence as a significant spiritual gathering that transcends borders and cultures.
