Anne Hathaway to Lead Gripping New True Crime Series

Anne Hathaway is set to headline a new true crime series titled Fear Now on Paramount+, adding to the anticipation already building for her upcoming 2026 blockbuster The Devil Wears Prada 2. The series is inspired by the Vanity Fair article True Crime, True Faith: The Serial Killer and the Texas Mom Who Stopped Him by Julie Miller and will explore the complex story of Stephen Morin, a serial killer accused of more crimes than Ted Bundy.

The show centers on the unusual relationship between Morin and Margy Palm, played by Hathaway, who was the last woman kidnapped by Morin. What began as a harrowing captive ordeal evolved into a story of compassion, faith, and courage. Palm’s deep religious conviction and hope that Morin could change forged a bond that endured beyond her release, lasting until Morin received the death penalty.

Hathaway’s Creative Role Extends to Executive Production

Alongside starring, Anne Hathaway will be an executive producer for Fear Now through her production company Somewhere Pictures. Jane Wiseman, head of originals at Paramount+, expressed enthusiasm about the project, emphasizing that Hathaway brings

“a level of nuance and gravity to the screen that only a performer of her caliber can.”

She added,

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Anne, Bash, and the rest of this illustrious team, and we can’t wait for viewers to see what is sure to be an enthralling limited series.”

The series will be written by Bash Doran, known for his work on Boardwalk Empire. Hathaway’s engagement in television is not new; she starred in Apple TV’s limited series We Crashed in 2022 and appeared in the Fox drama series Get Real before rising to major film fame.

Anticipation Builds for ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Release

Disney’s 20th Century Studios scheduled the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 for May 1, 2026, reuniting Hathaway with co-stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Emily Blunt shared her experience during filming in a 2025 interview with Variety, describing the production as

“overwhelming — in a good way.”

“Overwhelming — in a good way. I’ve never experienced a movie being shot with this much attention. We’re trying to keep the mystique — changing in bathrooms to avoid being seen in costume — but there are fans everywhere. Playing Emily again feels like slipping into a deranged pair of old slippers. She’s insane, and I love her.” – Emily Blunt, Actress

The Impact and Expectations for Hathaway’s New Series

With Fear Now, Anne Hathaway takes on a role that tackles both the darkness and humanity within a terrifying true crime story, a departure from her usual film projects. Her involvement as an executive producer promises a deeply personal investment in the series’ creative direction. Paramount+ aims to deliver a story that not only fascinates but also moves viewers through its authentic portrayal of Margy Palm’s courage and transformative faith.

This casting further solidifies Hathaway’s expanding footprint in television, merging her dramatic talents with compelling real-life narratives, and setting high expectations for this tense, reflective portrayal of crime and redemption. Fans of Hathaway and audiences drawn to intense true crime stories are likely to watch closely as this project develops.
