Anthony Mackie competes in an explosive demolition derby in the second season trailer for Twisted Metal, the Peacock action comedy series based on the PlayStation video game. “The joy ride is over. The tournament is here. I’ll need to end every last driver that gets in my way. No pressure, or anything,” Mackie as delivery driver John Doe declares with a shrug at one point in the trailer.
In the first season, Doe had to pick up and deliver a package to New San Francisco in a post-apocalyptic America, only for chaos to ensue on his trip. During the second season, a mysterious man known as Calypso, played by Anthony Carrigan, invites rival drivers to compete alongside Doe and Quiet, portrayed by Stephanie Beatriz, in a sinister demolition derby.
Michael Jonathan Smith, writer, showrunner, and executive producer on Twisted Metal, sets the scene in a statement: “The stakes couldn’t be higher as John Doe and Quiet risk their lives to compete in a dangerous demolition derby tournament. The prize? A single wish, their greatest heart’s desire, granted. The only problem is sixteen other drivers have wishes of their own.”
Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa also star in the second season of Twisted Metal, which is set for a summer 2025 debut on Peacock. The cast of recurring guest stars includes Saylor Bell Curda, Lisa Gilroy, Richard de Klerk, Patty Guggenheim, Tiana Okoye, and Michael James Shaw. The executive producers for the Peacock comedy are Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Mackie, Arnett, Marc Forman, Jason Spire, Grant Dekernion, Peter Principato, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Hermen Hulst. Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television are producing.
This high-stakes demolition derby promises intense competition and heart-pounding action, making it a must-watch for fans of the original game and newcomers alike, as the anticipation builds toward its summer release on Peacock.
