Alec Baldwin is expressing a desire for a larger family, as his wife Hilaria Baldwin revealed in a recent interview that her husband is “always asking” her for more kids. The couple, who celebrated their marriage in 2012, currently share seven children: Carmen, 11, Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 4, María, 4, and Ilaria, 2. Additionally, Alec has an older daughter, Ireland Baldwin, 29, from his previous relationship with actress Kim Basinger.
“Don’t judge me,” the 66-year-old “Beetlejuice” star told People for its cover story following Hilaria’s comment. He added, “I don’t really want one, but every now and then, when the baby gets older and grows up to be about 2, I look at [Hilaria] and I go, ‘Time to have another.’” Hilaria, 41, acknowledged that while her children are “really cute,” she feels that “my body’s really tired.”
Alec elaborated on his feelings, explaining to the magazine that his family brings him the greatest happiness. “I always joke with her and say, ‘You know where I should be right now, don’t you? We should be on Geffen’s yacht, drinking a cappuccino and reading a book, and having dinner with Spielberg or whatever,’” the voice actor from “Boss Baby” shared. “This is my reality. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
The Baldwin family is poised to embark on a new venture as their reality show, “The Baldwins,” is set to premiere on TLC on February 23. Leading up to the show’s debut, Alec shared emotional sentiments in the trailer, highlighting how his wife and children supported him through a difficult time in his life. This challenging period began when Alec fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a loaded prop gun during the filming of “Rust” in 2021. After a protracted legal battle, his involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed in July 2024.
“Honestly, from the bottom of my soul, I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you and these kids,” Alec expressed to Hilaria in the trailer. He reiterated these feelings in a heartfelt Instagram post in 2022, reflecting on the tragedy that enveloped him, stating, “My heart has been broken a thousand times this past year. And things in my life may never be the same. Lots of changes coming. But my family has kept me alive. They are my reason for living. And @hilariabaldwin, too.”
Alec and Hilaria have indeed traveled a complex journey to create the family they have today. In an Instagram post in 2021, Hilaria shared her own experiences before welcoming their youngest children, stating, “After 5 babies out of my body, 3 chemical pregnancies, 1 miscarriage at 9 weeks, one at 4 months, and a round of IVF, resulting in Marilu — my body has gone on quite a journey for the family we have. I have done my fair share of self-abuse…but, through much work on my mental health, I’ve learned to be grateful for her and support her.”
Ultimately, Hilaria concluded, “When we grow to love our changing forms—loose skin and all—that we honor our full life’s journey.” The ongoing discussion about expanding their family has sparked curiosity among fans and highlights the couple’s commitment to their children, despite Hilaria’s exhaustion. With a new show on the horizon and ongoing family life, the Baldwins continue to navigate their path with love and resilience.
