FX’s new limited series, Dying for Sex, starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, is set for a premiere this April. The eight-episode series will launch with all episodes available on Friday, April 4, on Hulu in the U.S. In addition, Dying for Sex will premiere internationally on Disney+ on the same day, featuring all episodes exclusively.
The series is inspired by the true story of Molly Kochan, which was originally shared on a Wondery podcast created with her best friend, Nikki Boyer. After receiving a diagnosis of Stage IV metastatic breast cancer, Molly, played by Michelle Williams, decides to leave her husband, Steve (Jay Duplass). This significant decision propels her to explore the depths of her sexual desires for the first time in her life. With limited time left to achieve what she wants, Molly takes a bold stance, rejecting judgment and societal expectations.
Guiding her on this liberating journey is her best friend, Nikki, portrayed by Jenny Slate. The affectionate bond between the two women emphasizes the importance of friendship and support during challenging times. The cast further includes Rob Delaney, Kelvin Yu, David Rasche, Esco Jouléy, and Sissy Spacek, enhancing the show’s ensemble dynamics.
Dying for Sex is written and co-created by Kim Rosenstock and Elizabeth Meriwether, who also serve as executive producers alongside Katherine Pope, Kathy Ciric, and others. Produced by 20th Television, the series promises to deliver an engaging and thought-provoking narrative. As viewers prepare for its release, the significance of this story, highlighting the exploration of personal desires against life’s harsh realities, resonates deeply, making the series a must-watch.
