Rajkummar Rao & Patralekhaa: How Their Impeccably Equal Marriage Redefines Love and Partnership!

For Valentine’s Day, many couples plan romantic gestures for their partners, but actors Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa have a different approach. They swear by being there for each other and making sweet, little gestures every day. In a recent media interaction, the couple discussed their division of household responsibilities. Patralekhaa shared, “We agreed from the start that there would be no hierarchy in our relationship. Everything would be shared – big or small.”

She added, “He’s so impeccably organised; he even knows where the smallest things are kept! I love cooking, and Rajkummar always has my back by taking care of the dishes. These small acts of partnership bring us closer and reflect the equality we believe in.” The Stree 2 actor emphasized, “In our relationship, we believe that equality starts with simple actions. I love doing the dishes when Patralekhaa has done the cooking or handling chores when she’s away – it’s about making life easier for each other. For us, it’s not about keeping score but being there for one another.”

The lovebirds got married in 2021 after 11 years of dating. Taking cues from their revelation, their approach to partnership reflects the importance of equality in relationships. A marriage leads to a sense of responsibility towards each other, enhancing the overall quality of life. Dr. Sonal Anand, a psychiatrist at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, explains, “Adapting to this change with mindfulness can lead to emotional stability. To be calmer, it is necessary to build a supportive environment along with the partner. When couples plan meals together and cook together, they spend more time with each other while making household chores feel less bothersome.”

Emotional support also plays a significant role in reducing stress, anxiety, and nervousness, allowing couples to live mindfully. Dr. Anand emphasizes that proper communication is essential to avoid misunderstandings or emotional tensions. “Couples can engage in activities like exercise, meditation, or simply spending quality time together to feel relaxed and stress-free. This will help overcome anxiety and stress in a relationship and bring the couple closer,” she states.

Prioritising self-care and setting boundaries are vital for emotional well-being. Dr. Anand notes, “Understand that marriage is not about losing oneself but growing together, staying happy, and enjoying life together.” When couples encourage each other’s well-being, they can sustain a happy and healthy relationship. If the couple has mutual understanding and is committed to their relationship, they can stay strong as a team and lead a fulfilling life. The goal should be to grow together, acknowledging that conflicts and stress are part and parcel of life.
