According to sources close to the project, Alia is in advanced talks with Ashwin and could finalize the deal soon.
As per insiders, Nag Ashwin is occupied with another upcoming project which is set to launch before the much-anticipated sequel of Kalki 2898 AD. Alia has been approached for the lead role, and the two parties are currently working out scheduling conflicts since she has already committed a significant amount of her time to Bhansali’s Love & War. The project holds a special place for Ashwin, with a source conveying, “Alia too has loved the world that Nag is looking to create, and the actress is excited to collaborate with the maverick filmmaker.”
Furthermore, the source indicated that Alia aims to fully understand the timelines of Love & War before she agrees to another film that might start in November. Nag wishes to commence filming on his new project in November and complete it within a predetermined timeline, especially with Kalki 2898 AD set to begin in the latter half of 2026. Both Alia Bhatt and Ashwin are reportedly aligned on creative aspects, with logistical details now being ironed out before any formal commitments.
In addition to Love & War, Alia Bhatt is also set to appear in Alpha, where she will star alongside Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol.
