The three-time Grammy winner entertained fans early into the multi-hour celebratory event, performing Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” alongside Brittany Howard, as well as her Grammy-winning hit, “Flowers.” In a memorable moment, mid-chorus of “Flowers,” Cyrus called out to actor Paul Rudd in the audience, exclaiming, “I love you Paul Rudd,” prompting a touched reaction from him.

Cyrus continued to engage the celebrity-filled audience by playfully asking, “Are y’all doing that Grammys thing where you guys are famous and s— and you don’t sing along, excuse my language?” This kind of interaction is typical of Cyrus, who loves to keep her performances lively and engaging. Throughout her career, she has been known for her dynamic presence both onstage and off, ensuring that the audience feels included in her shows.

The singer, now 32, is no stranger to SNL audiences. Cyrus made her hosting debut in March 2011, returning to the show in October 2013 and October 2015 to host and perform. She has also graced the stage as the musical guest in multiple years, including 2017, 2018 with Mark Ronson, 2020, and 2021. The concert special was hosted by Jimmy Fallon and featured a plethora of legendary performers including Arcade Fire, the Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, and many more. It kicked off at 8 p.m. ET and is available for streaming on Peacock. For fans eager for more, another star-studded Saturday Night Live anniversary special will air on Sunday, February 16, at 8 p.m. on NBC.

The enthusiastic shout-out to Paul Rudd not only added a personal touch to the evening but highlighted the warm community atmosphere SNL fosters among its artists and audience.
