Captain America 4 Nears Victory in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam Box Office Comparison This Weekend!

The box office battle between Captain America: Brave New World and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is heating up this weekend. As Captain America 4 inches closer to surpassing Black Adam’s worldwide total, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie benefits from a mixed reception to Snow White, allowing it to steadily climb in theaters across North America.

Initially, Captain America 4 faced potential setbacks following the release of Snow White, but lukewarm reviews provided a welcome reprieve. Anthony Mackie‘s portrayal of the new Captain America, succeeding Chris Evans’ iconic Steve Rogers, received praise, although critiques of the film’s superficial narrative persist. The introduction of new characters hints at exciting future developments in the MCU.

This past Friday, the film, starring Anthony Mackie, witnessed a decrease of 350 theaters due to Snow White’s rollout. Nonetheless, according to Luiz Fernando, it managed to earn $1.1 million on its sixth Friday in North America, showing resilience despite a 27.1% decline from the previous Friday. Its cumulative total in the U.S. has now reached $189.1 million.

Projections estimate that Captain America 4 will earn between $3.5 million to $4.5 million in its sixth three-day weekend. With an overseas collection of $203.54 million, the worldwide tally stands at $392.66 million. This puts it shy of overtaking Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam by less than $1 million.

For context, Black Adam, released in 2022 and headlined by Dwayne Johnson, alongside a supporting cast that included Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and Pierce Brosnan, saw its ambitious launch falter. Despite a hefty budget, Black Adam mustered only $168.15 million domestically, with international markets contributing $225.30 million, culminating in a global total of $393.45 million.

The enticing narrative woven by Captain America 4 during its theater tenure may soon exceed the disappointing benchmark set by Black Adam. Anthony Mackie’s film is also projected to potentially eclipse the MCU’s Eternals, which brought in $402.06 million globally. Released on February 14, Captain America: Brave New World continues to reinforce its stamina at the box office, slowly approaching these figures.

The rivalry at the box office showcases the competitive nature of superhero franchise films, underscoring the unpredictable outcomes of theatrical releases. Captain America 4’s performance could be a telling indicator of audience preferences and the shifting dynamics between Marvel and DC offerings.

As Captain America 4 advances, cinema enthusiasts eagerly watch to see if an MCU film can once again outshine its DC counterpart, with Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam looming just above its grasp.
