Hugh Jackman and Ella Beatty are set to headline the New York premiere of Hannah Moscovitch’s play, “Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes,” at the Minetta Lane Theatre, an iconic off-Broadway venue. The play, running from April 28 to June 18, will be performed alongside Jen Silverman’s new adaptation of “Creditors” by August Strindberg, featuring Liev Schreiber, Maggie Siff, and Justice Smith, from May 10 to June 18. Both productions are directed by Ian Rickson and backed by a collaboration between Audible and the newly-formed partnership Together, led by Sonia Friedman and Hugh Jackman.
The Minetta Lane Theatre is renowned for its historical significance, and over the past seven years, Audible has revitalized it as a hub for top-tier productions. “The Minetta Lane is a gem of a theater with a rich history,” stated Friedman and Jackman. “Adding to that their innovative model of producing work on stage and in audio, it was clear that launching our first Together venture with Audible was a perfect match.”
In addition to these performances, Audible Theater and Together will host various enrichment events at the Minetta Lane Theatre. This includes script-in-hand readings, post-show panel discussions, and creative workshops, aiming to engage audiences more deeply and offer a unique theatrical experience.
The involvement of Hugh Jackman in these productions not only highlights the significance of the Minetta Lane Theatre as a key player in off-Broadway excellence but also sets a precedent for future collaborations. This fusion of live and audio presentations might just redefine the future of theater, leaving audiences eager for more groundbreaking work from Jackman and his partners.
