Sara Ali Khan recently admitted to feeling envious of Alia Bhatt‘s accomplished career and fulfilling personal life. Speaking at NDTV Yuva, Sara confessed to her moment of jealousy when Alia Bhatt won the National Award. The accolade, combined with Alia’s new role as a mother, led Sara to perceive her life as perfectly set. However, she acknowledged that she had initially “de-humanised” Alia by ignoring the challenges she might have faced on her journey.
In a revealing statement, Sara said, “When Alia got the National Award, I was like, ‘God she got it, she has a kid also, her life is set.’ But I don’t know what she went through to get that. I, as an actor, de-humanised her. You don’t know, she must have had challenges and disappointments too, to reach where she has. But I didn’t realise what went into it. There are two sides to every coin.”
Emphasizing the value of understanding the full scope of a person’s journey before succumbing to envy, Sara highlighted a common oversight: neglecting the hard work and setbacks behind visible success. She elaborated, “Most often, when we are envious of other people, we feel so without all the information. We are envious because we just see that success and then we want that. We don’t see what goes behind it, we never see it. Envy means blindness.”
Alia Bhatt’s personal milestones are as remarkable as her professional ones. In April 2022, she tied the knot with actor Ranbir Kapoor in a heartfelt Hindu ceremony at their Mumbai residence. Following this, in November of the same year, the couple celebrated the birth of their daughter, Raha Kapoor. Alia’s triumphs continued into October 2023 when she was honored with a National Award for her role in the 2022 film Gangubai Kathiawadi.
On the professional front, Alia Bhatt is set to captivate audiences in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Love and War, featuring alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. This highly anticipated film, announced in January 2024, has garnered considerable attention. Alia will also grace the big screen in Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail, part of Yash Raj Films’ expansive spy universe, with a release date planned for December 25.
Sara Ali Khan, meanwhile, was last seen in the film Sky Force with Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya, and Nimrat Kaur. Her next project is Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino, an ensemble anthology film featuring renowned talents like Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aditya Roy Kapur, set to hit theatres on July 4.
As both Alia Bhatt and Sara Ali Khan navigate their respective paths in Bollywood, the lessons of empathy and acknowledgment of the unseen struggles accompanying success resonate widely. Understanding that every bright career has its shadows encourages a broader appreciation of achievements in both professional and personal arenas.
