Siddhant Chaturvedi has officially announced his participation in Dhadak 2, the eagerly anticipated sequel to the 2018 romantic film. Known for his breakthrough role in Gully Boy, Chaturvedi will star alongside Triptii Dimri, who has garnered significant acclaim following her success in Animal.
In a recent conversation with NDTV, Chaturvedi expressed his excitement, saying, “I would love to share the release date first; I hope Karan (Johar) is watching this. But yeah, we have made a really strong and rooted film. Usually, I have been approached for urban roles, but I come from Ballia, a small town in UP, and this is my first time exploring such a genre.” He added that he’s thrilled to work with an amazing co-actress, Triptii, and anticipates the trailer’s release soon, hinting that it will be unveiled this year.
The original Dhadak, produced by Karan Johar‘s Dharma Productions, featured Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, and was a remake of the Marathi hit Sairat. While the sequel’s plot details remain a mystery, it is expected to explore a similar theme of intense romance amid societal challenges, offering a fresh storyline.
For Chaturvedi, this role signifies another leap in his career following significant performances in Gully Boy, Gehraiyaan, and Yudhra. Triptii Dimri has rapidly become one of Bollywood’s leading actresses, building anticipation for Dhadak 2 among fans. Rumors have circulated for months, and with the cast now confirmed, expectations are higher than ever.
Addressing the pressure of joining such a renowned franchise, Chaturvedi conveyed his confidence: “Every film comes with its own challenges, but we’re giving it our all. The team is fantastic, and I believe audiences will love what we’ve put together.”
Directed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 is slated to start filming soon, with a projected release in 2025. As excitement continues to grow, the spotlight remains on how Chaturvedi and Dimri will breathe new life into this beloved narrative. With Karan Johar’s involvement, there is palpable anticipation around this film’s journey and its impact.
