Salman Khan Reveals Film Industry, Not Religion, Was Parents’ Marriage Challenge

Salman Khan is currently promoting his upcoming film “Sikandar.” Amidst the buzz, he opened up about his parents, Salim Khan and Salma Khan’s marriage. In a recent press conference for “Sikandar,” Salman revealed that the biggest challenge they faced wasn’t their different religions but rather his father’s profession. Contrary to common assumptions, the objections from his mother’s side weren’t about their Hindu-Muslim faiths. According to the superstar, it was about his father being in the film industry.

Salman Khan emphasized that the main concern at that time wasn’t cultural or religious differences. He explained, “It was never about the difference in the Hindu and Muslim culture and the practices. The bigger and more concerning thing at that time was, ‘Ye toh film line se hain (He is from the film industry).'” This insight sheds light on the challenges faced by interfaith couples beyond religion, particularly when one partner is involved in the film industry.

The intrigue of “Sikandar” extends beyond the film itself, with Salman taking on the lead role. He faces dangerous adversaries and battles a corrupt system, while marking his first collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna, who portrays his wife. The supporting cast includes Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and Sathyaraj. Directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film promises an engaging narrative.

Previously, Salman’s father, Salim Khan, shared his thoughts on “Sikandar.” In a conversation with Aamir Khan, shared by the film’s producers, Salim Khan was asked about his review of the upcoming action thriller. Salman expressed that the best script is one where the audience anticipates eagerly what happens next, saying, “Actually the best script is that… ‘Iske baad kya hoga, iske baad kya hoga, ab kya karte hai (What will happen next, what will happen next, what will they do now).’”

“Sikandar” is set to hit theaters on Sunday, March 30, 2025, featuring popular songs like “Zohra Jabeen,” “Bam Bam Bhole,” “Sikandar Naache,” and “Hum Aapke Bina.” The anticipation for the movie and Salman’s candid revelation about his parents’ marriage highlight the significance of looking beyond religion to understand the deeper societal concerns faced by couples, offering a refreshing perspective to young audiences.
