Salman Khan recently shared rare insights into the marriage of his parents, Salim Khan and Salma Khan, emphasizing that their challenges were never rooted in religious differences. During the promotions of his upcoming movie “Sikandar,” Salman commented that his parents, who belonged to different religions—his mother being Hindu and his father Muslim—faced no objections due to their religious backgrounds. The actor revealed the primary hurdle was instead tied to Salim’s career in the film industry. He noted that Salma’s family had no concerns about Salim’s religion.
“It was never about the difference in the Hindu and Muslim culture and the practices,” Salman explained, emphasizing that culture was not the issue. “The bigger and more concerning thing at that time was, ‘Ye toh film line se hain (He is from the film industry).’”
Salim Khan’s Perspective on the Film Industry
In a Youtube interview hosted by Aamir Khan, Salim Khan offered his thoughts on Salman’s new film, “Sikandar.” As a veteran scriptwriter best known for works like “Sholay,” Salim underscored that an engaging script keeps audiences eager to see what happens next. He remarked, “Actually the best script is that… ‘Iske baad kya hoga, iske baad kya hoga, ab kya karte hai (What will happen next, what will happen next, what will they do now)’.”
Family Dynamics
Salim also opened up in a conversation with his son, Arbaaz, on the talk show “The Invincibles,” about his wishes to keep personal relationships from hindering his children’s growth. Reflecting on his marriage with Helen, Salim expressed that his decisions did not lead his family to suffer. He credited his first wife, Salma, for her understanding and acceptance, which left room to welcome Helen without disruption. “That was the only way so that there is not any problem in your education,” he shared, admitting he wanted to prevent academic disturbance for his children.
Salman Khan’s New Cinematic Role
On the work front, Salman Khan is set to take the lead in “Sikandar,” where he will depict a character battling systemic corruption. This film also marks his first collaboration with actress Rashmika Mandanna, who is cast as his character’s wife.
Through these revelations, Salman Khan shows that the true test in his parents’ marriage was not their religious backgrounds but the external pressures related to Salim Khan’s profession in film. His insights bring to light the complex nature of balancing personal aspirations with familial harmony, a narrative that undoubtedly resonates with many today.
