In a significant development, Bollywood actor Amrita Arora Ladak appeared as a witness in a Mumbai court regarding the 2012 incident involving Saif Ali Khan. Saif Ali Khan was accused of assaulting an NRI businessman and his father-in-law at a five-star hotel on February 22, 2012. The actor was present with a group of friends, including Kareena Kapoor and her sister Karishma, when the alleged altercation occurred.
Amrita Arora detailed the evening’s events, stating they were dining in a separate hotel enclosure. During their time there, a man allegedly shouted and abused the group, including Saif Ali Khan. “We saw someone barging into our enclosure and, in a very loud, aggressive voice, told us to shut up and keep quiet. We all got shocked at what was happening,” she remarked, noting that Khan immediately stood up and apologized. Although the man left, the night escalated when Saif Ali Khan excused himself to use the washroom and loud voices, including his, were heard.
Amrita recounted that shortly afterward, the same man re-entered their space, allegedly striking Khan. Confusion and confrontation followed, with Amrita stating that they intervened to separate the two. She expressed that following this, the man began uttering threats and abusive language, causing further distress.
The police account revealed that the NRI businessman, Iqbal Sharma, had confronted the group due to noise levels. Saif Ali Khan, reportedly upset by Sharma’s alleged comments, supposedly retaliated with a punch that resulted in Sharma’s nose being fractured. Furthermore, allegations arose concerning an attack on Sharma’s father-in-law, Raman Patel. In defense, Khan asserted that Sharma’s abusive language towards the women present led to the conflict.
Saif Ali Khan, alongside his companions Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, faced charges under section 325 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to causing grievous hurt. The legal proceedings continue to draw attention, with potential ramifications for those involved.
