Fans Abuzz as Pierce Brosnan Discusses James Bond Legacy on Jonathan Ross Show

James Bond fans are abuzz with excitement after Pierce Brosnan, former 007, spoke about the legendary spy during his appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday. The seasoned actor, now aged 71, is renowned for his portrayal of the suave secret agent in films such as ‘GoldenEye’ (1995), ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ (1997), ‘The World Is Not Enough’ (1999), and ‘Die Another Day’ (2002), before he passed the baton to Daniel Craig.

During the chat show, host Jonathan Ross inquired about Brosnan’s potential involvement in future Bond projects. Brosnan confirmed he’s not been in the loop. He addressed rumors of possibly portraying a more mature Bond character, saying, “No-one’s spoken to me about it. I’ve heard all of the rumors. Listen, they know where to find me. Let’s see where the wind takes us.” He emphasized, “It’s going to be another man’s job. I’m not looking to go there. I’m quite happy with my career. I’ve done it, it was wonderful. Delightful kind of notion to contemplate,” as reported by the Express.

Brosnan also commented on the buzz regarding the possibility of Aaron Taylor-Johnson stepping into Daniel Craig’s shoes, stating, “I think he would make a very fine Bond. He was actually in one of the movies I made called The Greatest.” Reflecting on Aaron’s talent, Brosnan remarked: “This young man we cast as ‘The Greatest’. He was so impressive then. He just had this charisma, he had this presence… so he would be good. But there’s many men on the list I’m sure.”

The former James Bond star modestly reflected on his influence over Daniel Craig’s decision to take on the iconic role, commenting, “I don’t know if I helped Daniel make up his mind. Daniel is his own man. We talked about that period of time and said, ‘Go do it. You’ve got it, run with it.'” Despite having moved on from the role, Brosnan admitted that Bond remains a significant part of his identity, saying, “I’m recognised. He’s with me for life [Bond]. It was great. A magical time in my life.”

He credited the role for opening doors in his career: “It opened a lot of doors and allowed me to go off and form my own company and make my own movies – The Thomas Crown Affair/ The Matador – it gave me access to a whole other world as an actor, employment.”

Fans have been vocal on social media following Brosnan’s conversation with Jonathan Ross about his tenure as 007. Many expressed their desire to see him return to the franchise. One fan expressed enthusiasm on X, writing, “Would love Pierce Brosnan have some involvement with James Bond even if it was a cameo appearance #JonathanRoss #JamesBond.” Another fan praised Brosnan, stating, “Pierce Brosnan is still an absolute chap,” while another suggested, “Would be good if Pierce Brosnan was to come back as an older Bond. #TheJonathanRossShow.”

Admiration for Brosnan was evident as one viewer commented, “Pierce Brosnan is such a fine man. Can never forget his face nor physique,” whereas another simply stated, “The name’s Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan.” The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
