Hilaria Baldwin candidly discussed the challenges she faced adjusting to life with her husband, Alec Baldwin, highlighting their age gap as a significant factor. During the Sunday, March 30, episode of “The Baldwins,” Hilaria recalled moving in with Alec, who is now 66, when she was 41. “I used to do things very much the way Alec wanted them,” she admitted, reflecting on the tremendous anxiety and stress she felt.
Hilaria expressed the generational divide between herself and Alec, stating, “I almost felt like I was a kid in an adult’s home.” Although she hesitated to describe it as living with a parent, she acknowledged the home initially didn’t feel like hers. This episode of “The Baldwins” also followed the couple as they navigated home decisions, such as choosing a new rug, and addressed challenges like pet training for their messy dogs.
The Baldwin couple, who tied the knot in 2012, have since become parents to seven children: Carmen Gabriela, 11, Rafael Thomas, 9, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 8, Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas, 4, María Lucía Victoria, 4, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2. Alec also shares an older daughter, Ireland, 29, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
Reflecting on past judgments regarding age differences in relationships, Hilaria admitted, “Before I got together with Alec, I would judge women and men that had big age differences.” She candidly shared her assumptions about older men pursuing younger women and her realization of being judgmental once she found herself in a similar relationship.
More recently, Hilaria spoke about her first impressions of Alec. Despite feeling insecure due to their age difference, she appreciated Alec’s respectful approach. “Even when I had dinner with him, I felt like it was a big deal that someone was bringing me out,” she recounted on the show earlier this month, mentioning how Alec asked about their age gap and sought consent before their first kiss.
Alec Baldwin noted that Hilaria previously dated men who were considered more age-appropriate. He commented, “She was very young so they were very young,” acknowledging the attractiveness and fitness of her former partners. Through this transition, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have worked to merge their lifestyles and build a harmonious family environment.
As their show “The Baldwins” continues to air on TLC Sundays at 10 p.m. ET, it provides viewers with an intimate look at both the complexities and dynamics of their relationship. The couple’s exploration of adjusting to life together and navigating generational differences offers insight into their journey, illustrating that love can bridge the age gap and defy initial perceptions.
