CBFC clears Akshay Kumar’s lawyer role in intense Kesari Chapter 2; film granted ‘A’ certificate for bold courtroom drama.

Excitement builds as the highly anticipated film, Kesari Chapter 2, featuring Akshay Kumar, has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, also starring Ananya Panday and R. Madhavan, is set for release with a runtime just over two hours and fifteen minutes, offering audiences a bold and intense courtroom drama.

Certified on April 9, 2025, the film’s ‘A’ rating indicates potentially intense scenes, reflecting its examination of one of India’s most tumultuous historical periods — the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar, famed for his compelling portrayals, assumes the role of C. Sankaran Nair, the brave lawyer who confronted the British Empire. Ananya Panday and R. Madhavan further enrich the cast, playing Dilreet Gill and Neville Mckinley, respectively, while Simon Paisley Day takes on the role of General Reginald Dyer, the officer responsible for the massacre.

Today, Akshay Kumar stirred excitement by unveiling a powerful poster on Instagram, capturing him in traditional Kathakali attire, symbolizing resistance and truth. With the post, Kumar emphasized, “This is not a costume. It’s a symbol — of tradition, of resistance, of truth, of my nation. C. Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon. He fought the British Empire with the law — and with fire in his soul.” He announced, “This 18th APRIL, we bring you the court trial they never taught in textbooks.”

Kesari Chapter 2, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, draws inspiration from The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The film’s production boasts a talented team including Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari.

The film promises to deliver a gripping recount of historical courtroom proceedings, potentially leaving a resounding impact on audiences. With Akshay Kumar’s portrayal at its helm, Kesari Chapter 2 is positioned not only as a dramatic retelling of history but as a testament to the enduring fight for justice and truth. The film may well inspire further examinations of historical narratives, bringing to light stories of resistance that continue to resonate today.
