Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, who attended a fan event in Houston, US, on April 6, has sparked significant controversy after images and videos of the event circulated online, displaying beef and alcohol being sold at the venue. This event, known as Rangotsav, was held during the sacred occasion of Ram Navami, and Roshan’s presence has stirred the emotions of many.
Visuals shared by columnist Vivek Bansal on his social media account presented beef samosas as part of the menu. Simultaneously, a video revealed fans purchasing and consuming alcohol, all while devotional songs dedicated to Lord Ram played in the background. Bansal expressed his indignation, stating, “It is nothing short of outrageous that on the sacred occasion of Sri Ram Navami, Hrithik Roshan’s shows in the U.S. reportedly featured liquor-fueled gatherings and even a beef party—disgracefully masked as Holi celebrations.”
The backlash on social media was intense, yet authorities seem to have overlooked the issue, allowing Hrithik Roshan to continue participating in what Bansal referred to as a “disgraceful collaboration.” He lambasted this disregard as a “direct threat to national security and a shameless insult to India’s cultural and religious values.” Bansal’s posts further suggested the involvement of Rehan Siddiqi, allegedly blacklisted by the Government of India for questionable affiliations.
Bansal questioned the permissions granted to collaborate with Rehan Siddiqi and his network, which allegedly included Khalistani elements and Pakistani sympathizers, all offending Hindu sentiments. He inquired, “Who authorized @iHrithik to collaborate with ISI-linked Rehan Siddiqi and his network of anti-India operatives on American soil?”
As the controversy continues to heat up, Hrithik Roshan and his team have yet to respond to these serious allegations. The event follows prior complaints of mismanagement during the actor’s Rangotsav tour in Dallas, where a fan reported inadequate organization and disappointment after paying a significant amount to meet Hrithik.
The altercation occurred when a fan lamented spending approximately Rs 1.20 lakh for a VIP pass, only for the anticipated meet and greet to be unexpectedly curtailed. “Not to mention it was outside in such cold weather. He showed up for a 30-minute show. Waste of VIP!!! Oh yes, they won’t even give us a refund!! Love Hrithik but this event was so unorganized even he was annoyed,” the fan disclosed.
Meanwhile, in his professional life, Hrithik Roshan is preparing for upcoming projects, including reprising his role as Kabir in War 2, scheduled for theatrical release on August 14, 2025, alongside Jr NTR and Kiara Advani. Additionally, he recently declared his directorial debut with Krrish 4, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the film industry despite the swirling controversy.
The incident has inflamed cultural sensitivities, raising questions about celebrity responsibilities and the impact of their associations. The controversy surrounding Hrithik Roshan serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between cultural reverence and public figures’ actions on international platforms. The coming days may offer more clarity on the event’s broader consequences and the responses from those involved.
