The 72-year-old, renowned for his performances in films like The Wrestler and Sin City, joined the reality series on April 7, 2025, but left in under a week amid disputes with fellow contestants and producers.
In a statement to PEOPLE magazine on April 16, 2025, Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines, explained that his early departure was due to circumstances that she claimed “publicly embarrassed him” and alleged that the show is withholding his payments. Hines further stated that ITV was aware of Rourke’s unpredictable nature and intentionally cast him for this reason.
Hines criticized the show for exploiting Rourke’s “name and image,” terming it “an insult to a true cinematic icon” given his distinguished career. Moreover, she disclosed through TMZ that ITV initially promised first-rate accommodations for Rourke and his team upon their arrival in London. However, the network later informed them that expenses would only be covered up to $300 per night, leaving Rourke responsible for a $50K hotel bill.
