Shahid Kapoor backs Operation Sindoor, edits viral post supporting Indian Armed Forces after PoK strikes

Shahid Kapoor has publicly expressed his support for the Indian Armed Forces following Operation Sindoor, a coordinated military action that targeted nine terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan on May 7, 2025. The operation, executed jointly by the Indian Army and Air Force, was a response to the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 27 innocent Hindu tourists.

In the hours following the operation, Shahid Kapoor joined several other prominent Bollywood celebrities in acknowledging and applauding the efforts of the Indian Armed Forces. He posted a striking image of an Indian Air Force aircraft on his Instagram account. The original caption read,

“India doesn’t provoke. But India never forgets,”

accompanied by the Indian flag emoji and the hashtag #OperationSindoor. Shahid Kapoor later edited this post, removing the statement while retaining the patriotic symbols, and also disabled comments as the post continued to gain traction online.

Operation Sindoor commenced at 1:05 am, lasting just 25 minutes, resulting in the elimination of 70 terrorists and injuries to 60 more. The Indian Army described the operation as both “measured” and “non-escalatory,” emphasizing restraint in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. The army’s swift, targeted approach drew high praise from celebrities such as Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Akshay Kumar, and Paresh Rawal, who all voiced their support on social media.

Alia Bhatt, echoing the sentiment of many, posted on Instagram Stories,

“I salute our armed forces today and every day. Jai Hind.”

Deepika Padukone shared a compelling image from the official press briefing, featuring Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi, along with the words “Jai Hind” and the hashtags #OperationSindoor and a Tricolour GIF. These visible gestures of solidarity, including Shahid Kapoor’s edited but still-patriotic post, reflected a unified sense of national pride within the Bollywood community.

The military press briefing itself was noteworthy, led by Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, a renowned helicopter pilot, and Colonel Sophia Qureshi of the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals. This decision was seen as a tribute to women widowed in the tragedy and was regarded as a symbol of strength in the face of adversity. As Operation Sindoor continues to resonate, the actions and endorsements by figures like Shahid Kapoor underscore the wider cultural impact, hinting at ongoing public discussions around national security, civic support, and the evolving role of public figures in moments of national crisis.
