Jackie Shroff has officially been cast as Brigadier Joshi in Anupam Kher’s upcoming directorial venture, Tanvi The Great, with Shroff’s first look in the film revealed to the public this Thursday. The announcement was made by Anupam Kher via his Instagram account, where he unveiled a photo of Jackie Shroff dressed in an Army uniform, signaling a significant role in this much-anticipated film.
According to Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff’s entry into Tanvi The Great came about during a personal visit.
“My friend Jackie Shroff is actually my brother from another mother. We have not only worked together in so many movies, we are also related. Not many know that his wife Ayesha Shroff has been tying Rakhi to me for more than 30 years,”
Kher wrote. He continued by emphasizing Jackie’s compassionate nature,
“Jackie has a golden heart. ‘Love’ can be his second name. He has so much of it in him.”
The director recounted that Jackie Shroff visited him before casting for Tanvi The Great had concluded. Sharing the experience, Anupam noted,
“One day he dropped in at my place. I was yet to cast my film Tanvi The Great! But I had recorded few songs. I made him listen to them. He was quiet for a long time after listening to them. Then he hugged me and said, Don’t make this film without me.”
This heartfelt exchange led Jackie Shroff to take on the role of Brigadier Joshi, a character described by Kher as
“larger than life, strong, decisive and yet compassionate.”
