Anupam Kher has taken on the directorial role for his new film, Tanvi The Great, unveiling actor Arvind Swami in the significant part of Major Srinivasan. The announcement took place on Friday when Anupam Kher shared the first look poster, featuring Arvind Swami dressed in a grey shirt, with the Indian flag distinctly visible in the background. The film brings together a talented cast and signals a major step in Anupam Kher’s career as a filmmaker.
Speaking about his casting decision, Anupam Kher expressed admiration for Arvind Swami, recalling how he was “blown away” by the actor’s dynamic performances in previous films such as Roja and how their collaboration on Saath Rang Ke Sapne established a lasting friendship. According to Anupam Kher,
“There was nobody else that came to my mind when I wanted to cast an actor for the role of Major Srinivasan for Tanvi The Great. Major Srini, as he’s called in the film, is a powerhouse of strength, courage and bravery. Arvind’s performance made me feel proud.”
Tanvi The Great marks Anupam Kher’s second outing as director following his 2002 project, Om Jai Jagadish. In this film, he introduces Shubhangi, a talent from his own acting school, Actor Prepares, as the lead, alongside a distinguished supporting cast including Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, and Iain Glen, known for his work on Game of Thrones. The movie’s screenplay is also penned by Anupam Kher, in collaboration with Ankur Suman and Abhishek Dixit, while MM Keeravani provides music and Kausar Munir contributes lyrics.
With production by Anupam Kher Studio and the National Film Development Corporation, Tanvi The Great is expected to offer audiences both emotional depth and powerful performances.
