Ranveer Singh denies involvement in Shaktimaan project, shuts down rumours after Mukesh Khanna’s claims

Ranveer Singh denies involvement in Shaktimaan project, as confirmed by his team following recent statements from Mukesh Khanna that reignited speculation of Singh’s participation. The actor’s representatives stated that there are no active plans for him to either produce or star in a new series or film centered on the beloved superhero franchise.

The possibility of a Ranveer Singh Shaktimaan revival surfaced after Mukesh Khanna, who played the original Shaktimaan on Doordarshan during the 1990s, commented in an interview about Singh’s past interest in the role. The conversation triggered fresh rumours about Singh’s alleged talks to produce a reboot.

False claims emerge after Mukesh Khanna’s recent interview

In a wave of speculation, various outlets suggested that Ranveer Singh was pursuing the rights to create a new Shaktimaan adaptation, fueling ongoing discussions about the character’s return. These claims originated after Mukesh Khanna discussed an earlier meeting with Singh during an appearance with Siddharth Kannan. Khanna recounted how Singh visited him at a Sony-facilitated discussion, keen to convince the veteran actor that he could bring Shaktimaan to life in a new production.

The meeting, which reportedly lasted three hours, concluded without a partnership or agreement on the table. Khanna noted that while Singh expressed genuine enthusiasm for the superhero project, no decision was made and the idea did not move forward. The rumour mill accelerated after these remarks, but Singh’s team has firmly stated that he has no connection to a Shaktimaan revival at present. He is currently focused on other projects, including his upcoming film with Aditya Dhar, “Dhurandar,” as well as the much-anticipated “Don 3.”

Khanna’s view on Singh’s potential in Shaktimaan universe

Mukesh Khanna also shared some of his own insights regarding Singh’s interest in the franchise. During their meeting, Khanna reportedly hinted that Singh might be better suited to playing the show’s notorious antagonist, Tamraj Kilvish, instead of taking on the title role of Shaktimaan. This comment, while possibly speculative, added another dimension to the ongoing debate about how the Shaktimaan legacy could be preserved or reimagined for contemporary audiences.

Previous efforts by Aditya Chopra’s team to acquire rights

Looking back, Khanna revealed that Aditya Chopra’s team had inquired about obtaining Shaktimaan rights around a decade ago. At that time, an image of Ranveer Singh dressed as Shaktimaan circulated online, adding to speculation about a potential reboot. Instead of selling the rights, Khanna preferred a collaborative approach to maintain creative control, stating his intention to prevent the legendary tale from being reduced to a dance-packed spectacle

Now, with Singh officially disassociating himself from the franchise, the future of Shaktimaan’s cinematic journey is once again uncertain. The absence of Singh’s star power and production backing leaves the possibility of a new project hanging in the balance, rekindling both concern and interest among fans of the original series and those invested in its modern revival.
