Anupam Kher and Shubha Khote to be Honoured at PIFF! Discover the Stars Recognized at Pune’s Grand Cinema Celebration!

The 23rd Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) is set to honour senior actors Shubha Khote and Anupam Kher with the award for outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema. This prestigious recognition highlights the significant impact both actors have made in the film industry.

The SD Burman International Award for creative music and sound will be presented to the celebrated singer Kavita Krishnamurthy. The announcement was made by PIFF director Dr. Jabbar Patel during a press conference on Tuesday, where he expressed excitement for the upcoming festival.

Alongside Patel, the chairman of the film selection committee, Samar Nakhate, and other members such as Abhijeet Ranadive and deputy directors Vishal Shinde and Aditi Akkalkotkar were present. The inaugural ceremony will take place at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch on February 13 at 5 pm, featuring the cultural affairs minister of Maharashtra, Ashish Shelar.

The ceremony promises to entertain with a performance by renowned percussionist Vijay Chavan, followed by the screening of the Italian film ‘Gloria’ by Margherita Vicario as the opening film. This festival is jointly organized by the Pune Film Foundation and the cultural department of the Government of Maharashtra.

PIFF will conclude on February 20 at Balgandharva Rangmandir in the evening, showcasing the Spanish film ‘The Room Next Door’ by Pedro Almodovar. The recognition of Anupam Kher promises to further elevate the festival’s status in celebrating Indian cinema.
