“Scarlett Johansson’s 10-Year Quest to Join Jurassic Park: ‘I Told My Agents, I’m Available!’”

Scarlett Johansson, renowned actress known for her roles in major film franchises, revealed in a recent Vanity Fair interview that she has spent the last ten years eagerly trying to join the beloved “Jurassic Park” franchise. Her persistence is finally paying off with her role in the upcoming film, “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which also stars Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali. Johansson’s journey to this moment is filled with enthusiasm and a longstanding love for the series.

Johansson shared her deep connection to the original “Jurassic Park” film, recalling how she slept in a “Jurassic Park” pup tent in her bedroom for a year while sharing the space with her sister. “I was really crazy about the [original] film,” she expressed. Her dedication didn’t stop there; she mentioned that whenever trade reports announced new films in the franchise, she would forward them to her agents, insisting, “Hey, I’m available.” This consistent outreach highlights her genuine desire to be involved in the franchise that has captivated audiences for decades.

The actress also recounted a memorable experience during the filming of “Black Widow” in 2020 at Pinewood Studio in the UK. At that time, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard were filming “Jurassic World Dominion” on a nearby soundstage. Johansson took this opportunity to express her enthusiasm to her team, exclaiming, “Show me the sets! I want to participate!” Her excitement for the franchise was palpable, setting the stage for her eventual involvement in “Jurassic World Rebirth.”

Eventually, Johansson secured a meeting with legendary director Steven Spielberg, who helmed the original “Jurassic Park.” Although they were initially supposed to discuss future projects, Johansson stayed focused on her passion for the “Jurassic” series. “I hadn’t really sat with him and talked about work,” Johansson said. “We spent hours just catching up and chatting, and then at some point, many hours into it, he was like, ‘Wait, we’re supposed to talk about ‘Jurassic.’ Do I hear you’re a huge superfan?’” Johansson admitted to her fandom, acknowledging that it was indeed true.

Although she hesitated to reveal her childhood tent secret, fearing she might come off as a “weird stalker,” she conveyed a sense of regret for not being completely open. “I probably should have just told him,” she confessed. Johansson now stars as Zora Bennet in “Jurassic World Rebirth,” a character who is a former mercenary leading a group of scientists on a critical mission to retrieve dinosaur blood that might lead to a cure for heart disease.

Having invested a decade into her pursuit, Johansson even humorously mentioned to her agents that she would be fine with dying in the film within “the first five minutes.” Her passion is undeniable, and with “Jurassic World Rebirth” set to release nationwide on July 2 from Universal Pictures, fans can look forward to seeing her finally realize her dream of becoming part of the Jurassic legacy.
