Former President Joe Biden’s collaboration with Hollywood’s biggest talent agency has sent an industry-wide shockwave. There isn’t much that stuns the city of stars. Known for expecting the unexpected, Hollywood has taken events in stride that have rocked the rest of the world. From celebrity scandals to cannibalism allegations, to Epstein, Weinstein, and now Diddy, the industry has remained fairly stable through it all, while the rest of civilization stared with their mouths open. However, even Tinseltown is taking a second look with its eyebrows raised at the news of a former US President’s potential entrance into that world.
Now, no matter how intertwined the political and glamor world may be, transitioning from the former to the latter is not something that happens quite often. Someone like Joe Biden potentially spreading their branches into the entertainment industry, though, is even rarer than that. The news of former POTUS Joe Biden’s collaboration with Hollywood’s top talent agency has inevitably surprised many. Additionally, many also wonder if a day would come soon when Biden might be stepping into the industry as well.
Moreover, this has also dragged back a famous meme from the 2020 US elections era, where an editor used deepfake to portray Joe Biden as the old Steve Rogers in the Avengers: Endgame climax scene. While the meme video made rounds on the Internet at that time, Biden only passed on the mantle of Presidency in January this year. Although he had opted out of the elections last year, making his VP Kamala Harris the Democratic party candidate, Donald Trump taking office as the 47th US President officially ended his reign. As such, the news of a possible Hollywood collaboration, that too, so soon, has shaken the world some.
What has made people curious even more is a report claiming Biden’s son, Hunter, potentially being on board to venture into a more public career related to the entertainment industry soon enough. After the Obamas, the Bidens might be looking into a career based in the entertainment industry. The agency, named Creative Artists Agency, also represents Hollywood A-listers like Zendaya, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and more.
Interestingly, this is actually not the first time they have taken on the task of representing Joe Biden. A recent report by BBC cited that Biden had previously signed up with the agency when he was Vice President of the States during Barack Obama’s administration. Moreover, the Obamas’ production company, titled Higher Ground Productions, is also tied up with CAA. As per The Hollywood Reporter, the agency’s co-chairman Richard Lovett expressed the company’s delight in working with Biden again in a statement.
“President Biden is one of America’s most respected and influential voices in national and global affairs. His lifelong commitment to public service is one of unity, optimism, dignity, and possibility. We are profoundly honored to partner with him again,” Lovett said.
According to the report, during Joe Biden’s last stint with the agency, he released his memoir Promise Me, Dad, and ventured out on a nationwide tour for its release. Interestingly, a Los Angeles Times report also claimed that the 46th President of the United States might access some “lucrative opportunities” with this collaboration. During Biden and CAA’s last collaboration, the former President saw a significant rise in his income from less than $400,000 per year to over $15 million due to the book tours and sales.
Furthermore, the report also hinted that Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden is allegedly “exploring options” related to the entertainment industry. Seemingly after being convinced by lawyer Kevin Morris, and his documentary crew. Even more fascinatingly, the report noted that Bobby Sager, a close friend of Hunter, claimed that the younger Biden might be interested to “explore paths including potentially venturing into podcasting or public speaking.”
However, only time will tell whether Joe Biden will truly end up taking Hollywood by storm. For now, though, both his and his son’s plans seem to indicate that the future could indeed be bright for them in this new partnership.
