Discover the Chaotic Friendship of Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Gwendoline Christie, Like Hemsworth & Evans!

Over the years, Hollywood has seen many great friendships, from George Clooney and Brad Pitt to Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. However, there is a duo that is even better than the rest: Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth. Such is their chemistry and rapport that they were apparently not allowed to do press conferences together since they couldn’t get any work done. But they are not alone, for in the Game of Thrones universe, there is an equally chaotic duo that fans have come to love just as much as they appreciate the off-screen connection between Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth.

If you are a Marvel fan, you might be aware of the many interviews featuring Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, where they literally spent hours laughing instead of answering any questions. Similarly, Game of Thrones has an off-screen duo that mirrors this playful dynamic: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne). Just like their respective on-screen characters and their banter, Coster-Waldau and Christie are famous for their hilariously chaotic real-life dynamic. From brutally teasing each other for fun to laughing uncontrollably, the two stars have bonded remarkably, paralleling their Game of Thrones characters.

In an interview with Access, Christie joked, “No one likes it, we’ve annoyed everyone. We’ve annoyed everyone on set, and they don’t want to be around it. We did alienate people over the years, didn’t we?” While they love to pull each other’s leg at any opportunity, they have expressed appreciation for one another. In an interview with POPSUGAR, Coster-Waldau not only praised Christie but also stated that he would love to work with her again. Both actors continue to share a strong friendship today.

From their hilarious on-screen banter as Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth to their absolutely chaotic interviews with the press, it’s surprising to learn that the two Game of Thrones stars did not exactly hit it off when they first met. In an interview with PEOPLE, Christie recalled feeling nervous when meeting Coster-Waldau for the first time since he is a great actor. She didn’t even think they would get along well after their first encounter. “I didn’t think that we would get along because the first time I met Nicolaj, he was off with me,” stated Christie, recalling their initial meeting in a makeup truck, where he looked her up and down and said, ‘Yes.’ Coster-Waldau humorously noted that they instantly hit it off.

Game of Thrones is available to be streamed on Max, showcasing the incredible chemistry that keeps audiences entertained, reminiscent of the chaotic friendship of Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth.
