Andrea Anders (born May 10, 1975) is an American actress known for her extensive work in television sitcoms and her collaborative work with her brother, director Sean Anders. She rose to prominence in the early 2000s with her role as Alex Garrett on the Friends spin-off series Joey. Andrea Anders was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on May 10, 1975, the third child of Terrance and Sally Anders. She grew up in DeForest, Wisconsin, alongside her sister Torri and brother Sean Anders. She attended DeForest Area High School and graduated in 1993. Her passion for acting led her to study at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1997. She then relocated to New Jersey to attend Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, completing her Master of Fine Arts in 2001.
During her academic training, Anders studied the Meisner technique under Maggie Flanigan. She credits Flanigan’s teaching with shaping her approach to acting and her continued success in the industry. Path to Actress
Anders began her professional career in theatre after completing her MFA in 2001. She started as an understudy for Mary-Louise Parker in the Broadway production of Proof and later played Elaine Robinson in The Graduate. Anders’ first television appearances came in the late 1990s and early 2000s with roles on the daytime soap operas One Life to Live and Guiding Light. In 2001, she appeared in a Law and Order episode titled “The Fire This Time.” Her breakthrough on television came with a recurring role on the HBO prison drama Oz in 2003, where she played the character Donna Degenhart for five episodes.
That same year, she was cast as the original female lead opposite Richard Ruccolo in the failed television pilot Spellbound, a proposed NBC series about a warlock who falls in love with a mortal woman. In 2004, she made her film debut with a minor role in The Stepford Wives, playing a secretary to Nicole Kidman’s character.

In July 2004, Anders landed her breakthrough role as Alex Garrett, Joey Tribbiani’s neighbor, landlady, friend and eventual love interest, on the Friends spin-off series Joey. The show aired on NBC but was cancelled after two seasons. Andrea Anders Family

Anders met actor Matt LeBlanc in 2004 while co-starring on Joey. They began their relationship in 2006 and were together for over eight years before separating in 2014. Since 2015, she has been in a relationship with Jason Keller. In 2017, she gave birth to her daughter, Audrey, with Keller. She continues to maintain a relatively private personal life while pursuing her acting career.
