After more than a year of pitching her demo to labels, publishers, and entertainment lawyers, Filkow signed McKee to Warner Bros. Her debut album Trouble was recorded over two years with producers Bob Power and Rob Cavallo, and was commercially released on September 28, 2004. The lead single “Somebody” became one of the most played tracks on the internet radio website LAUNCHcast and was featured on MTV’s Buzzworthy and VH1’s You Oughta Know.
