David Burtka

David Michael Burtka (born May 29, 1975) is an American actor and chef known for his work on stage and screen as well as his long-running partnership with Neil Patrick Harris. Born in Dearborn, Michigan, he trained at Interlochen Center for the Arts, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan, and studied at William Esper Studios and Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Pasadena. Burtka has appeared on Broadway in Gypsy and It Shoulda Been You and on television in The West Wing and How I Met Your Mother, where he played Scooter. In addition to acting, he built a catering company, published the cookbook Life is a Party in 2019, and continues to perform while pursuing culinary ventures. He and Harris married in 2014 and share twins Harper and Gideon, born in 2010.
