Edward John Speleers was born at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, West Sussex, England on 7 April 1988. He is of Belgian descent and grew up in a family that experienced his parents’ separation when he was young; he has two older half brothers.
While at Eastbourne College in Sussex, Speleers took part in school productions including A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Richard III and wrote a play titled Retribution that was performed at the college.
