Emerald Lilly Fennell was born to jeweller Theo Fennell and author Louise Fennell and grew up in London with a sister, Coco Fennell. She was educated at Marlborough College in Wiltshire and read English at Greyfriars, Oxford, where she acted in university productions and was noticed by industry representatives.
