Jamie Luner is an American actress whose four-decade career spans film and television, including leading and recurring roles in dramas and soap operas. She is widely known for playing Cindy Lubbock on Just the Ten of Us, Peyton Richards on Savannah, Lexi Sterling on Melrose Place, and Rachel Burke on Profiler, as well as Liza Colby on All My Children and Cassie Siletti on Murder in the First. In addition to acting, Luner has worked as a producer and earned a Master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology.
Early Life and Background
Jamie Luner was born in Palo Alto, California on May 12, 1971, to parents Susan and Stuart Luner. She has an older brother, David Luner, who has also built a robust career in the entertainment industry. She attended Beverly Hills High School, where she became heavily involved in the drama department and at age fifteen won the LA Shakespeare Festival Individual Monologues category.
During the 1986 and 1987 school year, Luner attended the PCS Professional Children’s School in New York, an institution founded to provide working youth in the entertainment business with a basic education. While living in New York, she also studied dance at HB Studios with Ann Reinking, a prominent musical theater instructor. At age sixteen, the producers of Growing Pains invited her to audition for a new spin-off series, and after being cast, Luner returned to California.
In 1994, at twenty-three years old, Luner decided to pursue her passion for cooking and enrolled at the Epicurean School of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles, where she studied the fundamentals of classical French cuisine. Luner relocated to Atlanta, Georgia during filming, and after the series concluded in 1997, she bought an airstream and traveled across the United States for eight months before settling in Malibu.
Spelling then invited her to join the series Melrose Place as Lexi Sterling, a role that earned her global recognition. She also guest-starred in NCIS and starred in a succession of television thrillers, including Stranger in My Bed, Blind Injustice, The Suspect, and The Perfect Marriage.
Between 2009 and 2011, Luner played Liza Colby on All My Children in a role that spanned 296 episodes. She also made guest appearances on Supernatural, Criminal Minds, The Glades, Two and a Half Men, True Blood, Code Black, and Better Call Saul. Between 2015 and 2016, she played recurring character Cassie Siletti on Murder in the First, initially booked for two episodes before producer Steven Bochco expanded her storyline after seeing on-screen chemistry with co-star Currie Graham.
