Peri Gilpin (born Peri Kay Oldham; May 27, 1961) is an American actress and producer best known for portraying Roz Doyle on the NBC sitcom Frasier and Kim Keeler on the ABC Family drama series Make It or Break It. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Gilpin has built a reputation as a versatile performer with notable work in television comedy, drama, and voice acting. Her portrayal of the sharp-tongued radio producer Roz Doyle on Frasier earned her widespread recognition and remains her most celebrated role. Beyond acting, Gilpin has pursued voice work for animated series and video games, and she co-founded a production company with her Frasier co-star Jane Leeves.

Peri Gilpin was born on May 27, 1961, in Waco, Texas, to Jim O’Brien and Sandra Jo Hauck, both students at Baylor University at the time. After her parents divorced following the birth of her sister Patti Jo in 1965, their mother moved the family to Houston. In 1968, Sandra married her childhood friend Wes Gilpin, and Peri and her sister took his surname. The family relocated to Dallas in 1969, where Gilpin grew up.

Gilpin developed an early interest in acting through drama classes at the Dallas Children’s Theater as a child. She graduated from Skyline High School in Dallas in 1979 and enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in drama. However, her academic journey took an unexpected turn when she was expelled from the acting program at the end of her sophomore year. Determined to pursue her passion, she traveled to London to study acting, then returned to Dallas where she worked briefly as a makeup artist. During this period, Gilpin apprenticed for five summers at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts. Her siblings also faced cancer diagnoses; her sister Patti Jo died in April 2020 and her brother Marc Gilpin, who appeared as a child actor in Jaws 2, died in July 2023 from complications related to a brain tumor. Personal Life

On July 31, 1999, Gilpin married painter Christian Vincent. The couple has two children, twins born through a surrogate mother on May 7, 2004. Gilpin has spoken publicly about her family’s health challenges, and she has remained active in supporting cancer research efforts following the deaths of several family members from the disease. She continues to work in the entertainment industry, with her 2023 return to the Frasier franchise representing a notable milestone in her career.
