Robin Antin (born July 6, 1961) is an American dancer and choreographer who built one of the most recognizable entertainment brands in modern pop culture when she founded the Pussycat Dolls in 1995. What began as a Los Angeles-based burlesque troupe evolved into a global empire spanning music, television, live performance, fashion, and merchandise, making her one of the most prolific creators and entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry. Her work redefined the girl-group concept for the 21st century and reshaped the contemporary dance-pop landscape through a succession of high-profile ventures.
Antin was born in Los Angeles, California, to parents who immigrated to the United States from Britain, giving her a bicultural upbringing in the heart of the American entertainment industry. Growing up in Los Angeles surrounded by the machinery of Hollywood, she was naturally drawn to performance and movement from an early age. Her family background proved fortuitous in ways she could not have predicted — her brother Jonathan Antin became a celebrity hair stylist and television personality, and her brother Steve Antin became a director whose career would later intersect with her own. Her other brother Neil Antin also pursued work in entertainment, creating a family environment deeply embedded in the creative industries.
Antin began her professional career in 1984, entering the world of dance and choreography at a time when music videos and live performance were becoming central to pop stardom. Over the next decade, she built experience across various performance settings, developing the aesthetic sensibilities and industry connections that would later prove essential. In 2008, Antin expanded into fashion and lifestyle by partnering with the La Senza Corporation of Canada to launch the Shhh by Robin lingerie line, which ranged from girly and flirtatious designs to more glamorous pieces, reflecting the same aesthetic duality that defined her entertainment brand. That same year marked another milestone with the formation of the G.R.L. girl group, originally conceived as the new lineup of the Pussycat Dolls following the original recording group’s 2010 disbandment before Antin rebranded them as a standalone act to serve as the next generation of her musical vision.

The reality series Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicous, which aired in the late 2000s, served as the launching pad for Antin’s second girl group venture, featuring members Nichole Cordova, Natalie Mejia, Chrystina Sayers, and Tiffanie Anderson. Antin’s choreography credentials extend across a wide range of artists and mediums, from music videos to major films and stage productions. Beyond her work with the artists already mentioned, she was responsible for dance ensembles in various feature films, and her deep industry knowledge and commitment to fellow choreographers earned recognition in January 2010 when she, Tony Selznick, and Paula Abdul presented an award to Julie McDonald at The Carnival: Choreographer’s Ball 11th Anniversary Show in honor of McDonald’s 25 years pioneering dance representation as an agent and advocate. Antin also served as a judge on the Lifetime reality television show Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition in its first season, sharing her expertise with a new generation of performers.
Her business ventures have consistently extended beyond the dance floor and recording studio. In December 2009, she released a workout DVD featuring dancers from her various projects including Jamie Ruiz, Jenny Robinson, Michelle Jersey Maniscalco, Chrystina Sayers, and Nicole Scherzinger, released worldwide and marketed as a way to bring the Pussycat Dolls’ distinctive fitness and performance style into homes around the world. In 2015, she partnered with Australian fashion designer Kylie Gulliver to launch the lifestyle clothing line Elliot Label, and she has continued to oversee new iterations of the Pussycat Dolls brand including the Australian Pussycat Doll Burlesque Revue launched in 2015 at Crown Casino in Melbourne and The Pussycat Doll Dollhouse, opened in 2012 at the historic Keating Hotel in San Diego. Antin also served as an associate choreographer and creative co-producer on the stage musical Burlesque, which was based on the 2010 film directed by her brother Steve Antin, bringing her creative vision full circle with a family collaboration at the center of a major theatrical production.
