He rose to prominence starring as Warren Peace in Sky High (2005), Caleb Danvers in The Covenant (2006), and James Holden in the science fiction series The Expanse (2015–2022). Steven Strait was born and raised in Greenwich Village, a neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City, to father Richard Dyer Strait and mother Jean Viscione. His ancestry includes Dutch and Italian heritage. He attended Village Community School in his youth and later enrolled at Xavier High School, a private Catholic school in Manhattan.
During his teenage years, Strait began modeling for several magazines including L’uomo Vogue, Spoon, Details, Surface, Hollister Co., and Pop.
