Brad Keselowski Bio
Bradley Aaron Keselowski (born February 12, 1984) is an American professional stock car racing driver, team owner, and entrepreneur. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 6 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for RFK Racing, a team he also co-owns. Keselowski began his NASCAR career in 2004 and is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished drivers of his generation.
He is the second driver ever to win championships in both the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the twenty-fifth driver to win a race in each of NASCAR’s three national series. Beyond the cockpit, he is the founder of Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing, a hybrid manufacturing company based in Statesville, North Carolina, specializing in additive metal technologies and CNC machining.
Early Life and Background
Keselowski was born in Rochester Hills, Michigan, and raised in a racing family. He is the youngest of five children of Kay and Bob Keselowski and the nephew of Ron Keselowski. His older brother, Brian, is also an active racing driver. The family is of Polish descent, and Brad has spoken often about how the heritage shaped his work ethic.
Much of his adolescence was spent inside his father’s race shop, where he swept floors, mowed the grass, and learned the mechanical side of the sport. That hands-on grounding gave him an unusually deep understanding of race cars at a young age. In 2000, Keselowski began racing stock cars in the Factory Stock division, taking his first formal steps toward a professional career.
Path to NASCAR
Keselowski climbed NASCAR’s development ladder through the Craftsman Truck Series, where he made his debut in 2004 at Martinsville Speedway in the Kroger 250. He ran a limited Truck Series schedule that year before transitioning to a full-time Truck Series effort in 2005. As his results improved, he drew the attention of top Xfinity Series teams, opening the door to a national NASCAR career.
His breakthrough came with strong runs in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where he paired with crew chief Paul Wolfe to capture his first major series title. The relationship between driver and crew chief, plus Keselowski’s aggressive but calculated driving style, made him one of the most talked-about young talents in the garage and set the stage for his promotion to the Cup Series with Team Penske.
Brad Keselowski Career
Early Career (2004-2007)
Keselowski started in the Craftsman Truck Series at age twenty, debuting in the No. 29 Ford F-150 at Martinsville. He finished the 2004 season with eight starts and a best result of sixteenth at Mansfield Motorsports Park. In 2005, he ran the full Truck Series schedule, posting a seventh-place finish in the Florida Dodge Dealers 250 at Daytona and ending the year twenty-first in points.
He split time in 2006 between several teams while gaining experience in larger equipment. The learning curve of those early seasons prepared him for the move to the Xfinity Series, where he would soon announce himself as a championship-caliber talent.
NASCAR Xfinity Series Breakthrough (2007-2010)
Keselowski became a full-time Xfinity Series contender in the late 2000s, and in 2010 he delivered his first major championship. Driving the No. 22 Discount Tire car for Team Penske, he captured the Xfinity Series title with crew chief Paul Wolfe, collecting six wins, five poles, twenty-six top-fives, and twenty-nine top-tens. His twenty-six top-fives broke Kyle Busch’s single-season record of twenty-five set in 2009.
He also earned the NASCAR Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver Award in 2008, 2009, and 2010, a sign of his growing connection with fans. The championship made him one of the few drivers to have a major NASCAR title and confirmed his readiness for the Cup Series.
NASCAR Cup Series (2010-2021)
Keselowski joined the Cup Series full-time with Team Penske in 2010, taking over the No. 12 Dodge Charger before moving to the flagship No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge in 2011. He earned his first Cup Series victory in 2011 at Kansas Speedway and added two more wins that year to clinch a wild card spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. He finished fifth in the final standings, eighty-four points behind champion Tony Stewart.
The 2012 season was the high point of his Penske tenure. He won five races, posted consistent finishes, and clinched his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway after Jimmie Johnson dropped out with gear failure. He joined Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt as the only drivers to win the Cup championship within their first three full-time seasons. From 2013 through 2021, he remained a Chase and Playoff contender, adding marquee wins along the way and pairing with crew chief Jeremy Bullins for much of that stretch.
RFK Racing Era (2022-Present)
After the 2021 season, Keselowski left Team Penske to become a driver and co-owner at Roush Fenway Racing, which was rebranded Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing (RFK Racing). He drives the No. 6 Ford Mustang Dark Horse with crew chief Jeremy Bullins leading the pit box. The move gave him both a seat and a stake in the team’s long-term direction.
Since joining RFK, Keselowski has focused on rebuilding a Ford program that had been seeking consistent speed. He won the Bluegreen Vacations Duel in 2022 and has continued to post top-ten runs in 2023, 2024, and 2025, with the team gradually emerging as a more regular presence in the Playoffs.
Driving Style and Strengths
Keselowski is known for a calculating, sometimes aggressive driving style that plays well on intermediate tracks and short intermediate ovals. He is widely respected for his strategic thinking on fuel-mileage runs, and his long-running partnership with crew chief Jeremy Bullins has produced strong setups for late-race restarts. His social media presence and willingness to communicate openly with fans have made him one of NASCAR’s most marketable personalities.
Notable Races and Milestones
His signature victories include the 2011 STP 400 at Kansas, the 2012 Food City 500 at Bristol, the 2018 Brickyard 400, the 2018 Bojangles’ Southern 500, the 2018 Advance Auto Parts Clash, the 2020 Coca-Cola 600, and the 2022 Bluegreen Vacations Duel. 2025 Season Performance
The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season is shaping up as a year of progress for Keselowski and RFK Racing. With the No. 6 Ford Mustang Dark Horse and crew chief Jeremy Bullins leading the team, RFK has worked to take another step forward as a multi-car organization alongside the No. 17 entry. Early results have shown competitive pace on intermediates, where Keselowski’s experience and Bullins’ setups have paid off.
Keselowski has continued to play a veteran role in the garage, mentoring younger teammates and helping shape RFK’s long-term technical direction. He has run inside the top ten at several intermediate and short-oval events and is in the conversation for a Playoff berth as the regular season progresses.
Looking ahead, the partnership with Bullins and the momentum of RFK’s recent gains give Keselowski a realistic shot at contending deep into the Playoffs. If the team can convert its race-day speed into a Playoff-clinching win, 2025 could mark the strongest Cup result for both driver and team since the rebranding to RFK Racing.
