    Christopher Bell Bio

Christopher David Bell (born December 16, 1994) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 20 Toyota Camry XSE for Joe Gibbs Racing. Bell is a former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion and a three-time Chili Bowl Nationals winner, recognized as one of the most versatile competitors in the modern garage.

    Early Life and Background

Christopher David Bell was born on December 16, 1994, in Norman, Oklahoma, to David and Lorene Bell. Growing up in Oklahoma, he was surrounded by a strong racing community that helped shape his early interest in motorsports. The Sooner State’s deep short-track culture gave Bell plenty of opportunities to develop his craft from a young age.

Bell began his racing career in micro sprints at I-44 Riverside Speedway in the early 2000s, competing locally before climbing the open-wheel ladder. He earned the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Championship in 2010 and continued to log wins in micro-sprint events, including the Mike Phillips Memorial in 2011. Those formative years on Oklahoma dirt laid the foundation for a smooth transition into bigger and faster machines.

    Path to NASCAR

Bell’s path toward NASCAR’s national series accelerated when he joined Keith Kunz Motorsports in USAC racing in 2013, replacing Kyle Larson. He concluded 2013 as the USAC National Midget Champion, signaling his arrival on the national dirt scene. The following year, he began racing asphalt Super Late Models for Kyle Busch Motorsports while continuing to compete in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.

In 2015, Bell made his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West starts for Bill McAnally Racing before debuting in the Camping World Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports at Iowa Speedway. He won his first career Truck race later that season in the Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway, holding off Bobby Pierce on a green-white-checker finish. That breakthrough convinced KBM to promote him to a full-time Truck Series ride in 2016, launching his full-time NASCAR career.

    Christopher Bell Career

    Early Career (2015–2016)

Bell’s first full NASCAR season came in 2016 in the Camping World Truck Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports. His year opened with a frightening barrel-roll crash at Daytona but he recovered to post a single Truck win, at Gateway Motorsports Park, and finished third in the final championship standings. The season established him as a championship contender in waiting.

In 2017, Bell captured the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship with five wins, fifteen top-fives, and twenty-one top-tens. He clinched the title at Homestead-Miami Speedway by finishing second to his friend Chase Briscoe in the finale, becoming the best finisher among the Championship 4. That same year, he also won the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals, becoming the first Oklahoman to win the event since Andy Hillenburg in 1994.

    Xfinity Series Breakthrough (2018–2019)

Bell moved to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2018 with Joe Gibbs Racing, driving the No. 20 Toyota. He won at Richmond in April and later reeled off three consecutive victories at Kentucky, New Hampshire, and Iowa, becoming the first series regular since Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 1999 to accomplish the feat. Bell set a rookie Xfinity Series win record with his sixth victory at Dover and advanced to the Championship 4 before finishing fourth in points.

He returned to the No. 20 in 2019 and opened with a dominant win at Atlanta in the debut race for the Toyota Supra in the series. He added wins at Bristol, Dover, Iowa, New Hampshire, Road America, Texas, and the playoff opener at Richmond, advancing to the Championship 4 for the second straight year. Bell finished third in the final standings and signed a contract extension with Joe Gibbs Racing through 2020, cementing his place as one of the series’ top talents.

    Cup Series Era (2020–Present)

On September 24, 2019, Leavine Family Racing announced that Bell would move to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020, driving the No. 95 Toyota. In his first full Cup campaign he scored two top-fives and seven top-tens, finishing twentieth in points, which earned him the No. 20 ride at Joe Gibbs Racing for 2021. In just his second race with JGR, the 2021 O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 on the Daytona road course, he passed Joey Logano with two laps remaining to claim his first career Cup victory, becoming the first driver from Oklahoma to win in the Cup Series.

Bell won at New Hampshire in 2022 and used a must-win run at the Charlotte Roval, followed by another at Martinsville, to reach the Championship 4 at Phoenix. He finished the season a career-best third in the points standings. In 2023, he added wins at the Bristol dirt race and Homestead, again reaching the Championship 4, only to see his title hopes end with a 36th-place DNF at Phoenix due to a right-front brake failure.

    Joe Gibbs Racing Era (2021–Present)

Bell’s tenure in the No. 20 at Joe Gibbs Racing has been marked by steady playoff contention and signature wins. In 2024, he captured victories at Phoenix, Charlotte, and New Hampshire, but a controversial last-lap wall-riding move at Martinsville resulted in a 22nd-place penalty that eliminated him from the playoffs. He closed the year fifth in the championship standings, his second consecutive top-five finish.

The 2025 season opened with a 31st-place DNF at the Daytona 500, but Bell rebounded with three consecutive Cup victories, at Atlanta, Circuit of the Americas, and Phoenix, becoming the first driver to win three straight races in the Next-Gen era. He added the NASCAR All-Star Race win at North Wilkesboro in May, passing Joey Logano with a two-tire advantage. Bell later won the Bristol Night Race during the playoffs before being eliminated in the Round of 8 at Martinsville, ending the year fifth in points for the second straight season.

    Driving Style and Strengths

Bell is widely regarded as one of the most well-rounded drivers in the Cup garage, equally comfortable on intermediate tracks, short tracks, road courses, and dirt. His dirt-racing background translates into exceptional car control, especially on slick surfaces and in close-quarters restarts. The partnership with crew chief Adam Stevens has produced consistent communication, smart strategy calls, and a steady stream of race-winning speed.

    Notable Races and Milestones

Among Bell’s signature moments are his first Cup win on the Daytona road course in 2021, the 2022 Martinsville must-win that sent him to the Championship 4, the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 victory at Charlotte, and his historic three-race winning streak to open the 2025 Cup season. His Oklahoma upbringing and family support played a key role in his early development as a driver.

    Personal Life

Bell became engaged to Morgan Kemenah in December 2018, after the couple had dated for four and a half years. The two married on February 2, 2020, weeks before that year’s Daytona 500. 2025 Season Performance
