Katherine Anne Legge (born 12 July 1980) is a British professional auto racing driver who has competed across multiple disciplines, including the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, IndyCar Series, and IMSA SportsCar Championship. She holds the record for the fastest qualifying effort for a woman in Indianapolis 500 history, a mark set in 2023, and was the first woman to win a major open-wheel race in North America in 2005. Early Life and Background
Katherine Anne Legge was born on 12 July 1980 in Guildford, Surrey, England. She grew up in the United Kingdom and developed an early interest in motorsport, eventually working her way through several junior open-wheel categories in Britain. Her British upbringing laid the foundation for a career that has since carried her across continents and into some of the most demanding racing series in the world.
