Lando Norris (born 13 November 1999) is a British racing driver who competes in Formula One for McLaren. Norris was runner-up in the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship in 2024 with McLaren and has won 11 Grands Prix across seven seasons of competition.

Lando Norris was born on 13 November 1999 in Bristol, England. His father, Adam Norris, is a retired pensions manager who co-owned Hargreaves Lansdown. His mother, Cisca Norris, is from the Flanders region of Belgium and gave him the name Lando, which he has stated was not inspired by Lando Calrissian from Star Wars. He has three siblings, including an older brother, Oliver, who also competed in karting until 2014.
Norris holds both British and Belgian citizenship and speaks a small amount of Flemish Dutch. As a child, he tried horse riding, quad biking, and motorcycle riding before his father took him to watch the British Karting Championships at age seven, sparking his love of motorsport.
Norris was educated at Millfield School in Street, Somerset. He left school without taking his GCSEs, opting instead to study physics and mathematics with a full-time personal tutor. He cites Valentino Rossi as a major inspiration for his racing career.
Path to NASCAR

Early Career (2014–2018)
Norris made his car racing debut in 2014 in the Ginetta Junior Championship, a support series to the British Touring Car Championship, finishing third overall and claiming the Rookie Cup. In 2015, he signed with Carlin Motorsport to drive in the MSA Formula Championship, winning the title with eight victories, ten pole positions, and fourteen podiums.
His junior career also included the Toyota Racing Series, Formula Renault Eurocup, Formula Renault NEC titles in 2016, and the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2017. 2025 Season Performance
McLaren entered 2025 as title favourites, with Norris stating he had learned a lot of lessons from his 2024 title bid. He opened the season with victory at the Australian Grand Prix from pole in wet conditions, taking the championship lead. He followed that with second place finishes in China, Japan, and Bahrain, sitting in a tight battle with teammate Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.
Norris claimed his first Monaco Grand Prix victory from pole, reducing Piastri’s championship lead to three points. A collision with Piastri at the Canadian Grand Prix resulted in a retirement and a penalty, leaving Norris 22 points behind at one stage and prompting him to admit he could not afford further mistakes. He later won the São Paulo Grand Prix, continuing his push in the drivers’ standings.
