Early Career (2011–2013)
After impressing the Blackhawks coaching staff during training camp, Saad signed a three-year, entry-level contract on October 4, 2011. He made his NHL debut on October 7, 2011, against the Dallas Stars, and was reassigned to Saginaw on October 12. Upon returning to the Spirit, he led the OHL with 10 points over three games and was named CHL Player of the Week. He later joined the United States national junior team at the 2012 World Junior Championships. As team captain for the remainder of the 2011–12 season, Saad helped the Spirit climb from ninth place to fourth in the conference standings.
