James Edward Banks (born July 16, 1979) is an American politician and naval officer serving since 2025 as the junior United States senator from Indiana. A Republican from Columbia City, Indiana, he represented Indiana’s 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2017 to 2025 and previously served in the Indiana State Senate from 2010 to 2016. Banks is a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington and holds a Master of Business Administration from Grace College & Seminary, and he continues to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Supply Corps officer.
