Kangana Ranaut Slams Diljit Dosanjh’s Work with Hania Aamir Amid Sardaarji 3 Controversy and Nationalism Debate

In an interview with Times Now, Kangana Ranaut addressed her objections to Diljit Dosanjh’s involvement with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film Sardaarji 3. This movie, which has yet to release in India, has sparked criticism due to the ongoing strained relations between India and Pakistan, especially following the recent Pahalgam attack in April. As a Member of Parliament representing the BJP, Kangana emphasized the sensitivity of such collaborations during tense times.

Debate on National Sentiment Among Celebrities and Public Figures

Kangana expressed frustration over what she perceives as a fragmented sense of national responsibility among artists and athletes compared to politicians and soldiers. She remarked,

“I’ve said enough about these people. In the beginning of our conversation, I pointed out that we need to have a sentiment of nation-building — everybody is a stakeholder.”

She questioned why some public personalities do not mirror the patriotic commitment expected from those serving the nation in other capacities.

After the government imposed restrictions on Pakistani artists’ social media accounts and their participation in Indian projects post-Pahalgam attack, the criticism of Diljit Dosanjh’s partnership with Hania Aamir only grew stronger from various quarters.

Kangana Calls for Unified Nationalistic Commitment Across Sectors

Kangana challenged why celebrities like Diljit Dosanjh and cricketers appear to follow individualistic paths rather than a shared nationalistic approach. She stated,

“Why don’t we have that sentiment? Why is Diljit having his own path? Why should somebody else, cricketers, have their own path? Even a soldier has his own path of nationalism.”

She highlighted the importance of all stakeholders aligning their actions towards nation-building goals.

On the professional front, Kangana recently completed directing the film Emergency, portraying former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the controversial 1975-77 Emergency period in India. Her forthcoming work includes a Tamil psychological thriller starring R. Madhavan, as well as another project titled Bharat Bhagya Vidhata.

Concluding her remarks, Kangana urged for cohesive national sentiment fostered by political leadership. She said,

“I am not saying it is unnatural, but we must try to align everybody.”

She believes that politicians bear the primary responsibility to encourage this collective patriotism among all sectors of society.
