Aamir Khan Surprises Fans by Singing Two Songs in His Upcoming Comedy Film

Aamir Khan is once again showcasing his versatility by lending his voice to two songs in an upcoming comedy film, marking a significant return to singing after nearly three decades. Known for his dedication to his craft, Aamir’s latest project revives the charm of classic Indian cinema while highlighting his newly honed vocal skills.

Aamir Khan’s Return to Singing on the Big Screen

In 1998, Aamir Khan first sang on screen in Vikram Bhatt’s film Ghulam, a rare moment for the superstar at the time. Now, 27 years later, he has trained seriously to embrace singing professionally. Aamir explained that,

“When I sang ‘Aati kya khandala’, I did it for a lark. I was lucky it worked. Now, I’ve been properly training to be a singer for some years now.”

This upcoming film is an untitled comedy that draws inspiration from the style of legendary directors Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mukherjee, known for their warm and innocent comedies that are seldom made these days. Aamir noted,

“It is a Basu Chatterjee or Hrishikesh Mukherjee genre of film, which I feel that we have forgotten making. You know, we don’t make that kind of cinema anymore. Sweet, innocent comedy.”

Aamir’s Role and Singing Debut in the Comedy Film

Though Aamir plays a cameo role in this lighthearted film, what stands out is his performance as a singer, marking a unique addition to his artistic repertoire. He revealed,

“I am playing a cameo. I’m playing a very important cameo in that. Subhash, you’ll be surprised to hear that I’m singing two songs in that, in my own voice.”

He has been honing his singing under the guidance of vocal coach Sucheta Bhattacharjee, developing his skills beyond a casual attempt into a trained craft.

“Since I sang ‘Aati kya khandala’, I have been taking classes in singing. And my guru is Sucheta Bhattacharjee. I’ve been learning singing from her,”

he said.

Aamir’s Affection for Lata Mangeshkar and His Musical Influences

Aamir’s connection to music runs deep, especially through his admiration for the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. He shared,

“My days begins with her songs,”

expressing how much he misses her presence.

“I was very close to her. She was always so warm and loving to me. And I would have really liked her to hear my attempts, whatever I’m making.”

The music for the songs Aamir sings in this project is composed by Ram Sampath, adding another layer of anticipation for audiences eager to hear the final product. Aamir expressed his excitement about sharing his singing with the public, saying,

“I can’t wait to know how the audience reacts to my singing.”

Reviving the Spirit of Classic Indian Cinema

The film’s focus on the light and comforting style of comedy popularized by Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mukherjee signifies a nostalgic return to simpler cinematic storytelling. Unlike typical high-stakes films, Aamir explained,

“the stakes of a film like this are never too high. No one’s going to die or anything in the plot. It’d be a really warm, wonderful feeling you get when you watch the film.”

With this project, Aamir Khan not only expands his artistic range but also pays tribute to a type of cinema that has largely faded from contemporary Indian filmmaking. His involvement both as an actor and singer raises expectations among fans and cinephiles alike, curious to see how his singing will blend with the film’s overall tone.
